Taking queues from ‘conversation pits’ of the ’70s, the space retains the communal gathering function of the Saranbang but instead proposes one inclusive, informal lounging landscape for all residents at the centre of the home. Simple fixed elements reference the layout of the space’s traditional predecessor, but soft stackable cushions allow the room to be reconfigured around them. 

The Bakerloos is an award-winning experimental architecture studio, founded in 2016 by Johanna Just, Ness Lafoy, Agostino Nickl and Christopher Delahunt.
