Here’s #cube154: #volume64season3 #laptopistan 🌱 “Brownfield sites are as connected as they are desolate, often existing as central but abandoned patches in the urban fabric. Left for the drudgery of being unpalatable and unbuildable, attempts at “Urban Regeneration” lead down the slippery slope to gentrification. Chef and food traveller Anthony Bourdain coined the growth of these commercial establishments phenomenon “Laptopistan” - likely due to their nomadic nature of laptop-clutching, coffee drinking millennial inhabitants. The proposal engages gentrification in favour of pushing the plant-loving millennial trope to its extreme: urban green spaces. #cube153 of #alterednature is “The Last Lab” 💥 “Set in the future, a time where earths landscapes have been mined to the point of devastation, the search for extraterrestrial life is our last hope of survival. Nestled amongst the caves and cliffs of a quarry, a lab, specializing in astrophysics and the study of extraterrestrial life is found. It represents the last hope of inhabiting a rich and fruitful environment, in an earth where the landscape is ruined and desolate. #cube152 of #alterednature is “The Spiral Chimney” 🌀 “The sky-high chimneys of an abandoned industrial landscape are reimagined as dwellings for former workers. #cube150 is the Quarry Home - the author’s contextual reply to her brief #AlteredNature: 🏠 “As the pinnacle of our species domination on earth, once man decides it is no longer economically profitable exploiting quarries, they are shamelessly left for dead, like open wounds we disgustingly avoid looking at.
 On the other hand, the increasing need to develop our cities generates the massive clearing of untouched lands. 
Today, you can build your home without clearing more natural lands!

London’s abandoned rails are up for inhabitation in #cube149: 🚊 🏠 “As a need for housing in central London increases and available land is scarce, the railways have been forced to give up even the thinnest plots between the rails. The house builders lay their foundations between the tracks and build arches up above the railways.
