B8_#084 // The Studio // Anthony Ani
The galleried studio aims to respond to the students shifting needs for concentration versus isolation within the studio. It takes advantage of the double height space that it is situated in by introducing an upper gallery level. Each student has their own individual work space set into the walls of the studio which also serve as storage spaces. This frees up the floor on the lower level and transforms it into a multipurpose space, where work can be exhibited/presented to the whole studio. The positioning of the work spaces stimulates focus while working and at the same time promotes a sociable studio culture as students can turn away from the intensity of their work spaces towards the central open space which also acts as a social hub for the studio.
