B3_#030 // The Waiting Room // Agostino Nickl
Waiting rooms exist in every airport, hospital, town hall. They are generic spaces, produced to accommodate as many individuals as possible. Soon they become projection surfaces of their ‘inhabitants‘ – filled with their individual hopes, concerns and anxieties. Those interior worlds never leave any trace on the space. The „Generic Selfspace“ plays with turning around the notion of generic space as white canvas – what if the waiting room archives the taste of its’ transient visitors? What if – augmented through everybody’s subjectivity – it gets cluttered with more and more layers of individual projections, turning it into a rich, ever evolving bearer of meaning?
