The Hourglass is celebrating the waiting room as a representation of time. A waiting room portrays the process of transition from one stage to another by spending time in a generic space. In the Hourglass, the waiting for something is reduced to the pure waiting. One stage is exactly like the other. The passing of time is the only desired action which is represented by the jump through the hourglass. By turning the Hourglass the process can be repeated endlessly.
